Team Triumph: Paul & Lee Conquer the Shropshire Hills for Shelter

Our very own Paul and Lee recently took on the stunning but challenging Shropshire Hills charity walk for Shelter, the national housing and homelessness charity.

The Shropshire Hills Charity Walk Challenge

The duo completed an impressive 20.86km trek through some of the most demanding terrain the county has to offer, clocking up 42,021 steps over 7 hours and 50 minutes. The route took them to a maximum elevation of 572 meters – that’s taller than the London Eye (135m) stacked more than four times over!

It was a fantastic day, with a great chance to meet other walkers participating in the Shropshire Hills charity walk for Shelter, some very friendly horses, and some very tricky terrain that certainly kept everyone on their toes.

The Shropshire Hills provided a breath taking backdrop for the challenge. Despite the physical demands, the camaraderie among participants and the knowledge that every step was helping people in desperate need of housing support kept spirits high throughout the day.

Fundraising Success from Our Charity Walk

The results speak for themselves: Lee raised just shy of £500, while Paul surged past £1,700. Together with fellow walkers, the event generated over £10,000 for Shelter – a sum that will make a tangible difference to people facing housing insecurity across the UK.

What This Money Can Do

To put this achievement in perspective, the money raised could provide:

  • Legal advice to help over 130 people facing eviction keep their homes
  • Expert support for nearly 200 families navigating the housing system
  • Emergency assistance for countless individuals in housing crisis
  • Vital advocacy work to change the policies that leave so many without safe, affordable housing

Every pound raised helps Shelter’s advisors provide life-changing support – from preventing homelessness before it happens to securing legal representation for those fighting unfair evictions. With housing costs continuing to rise and more families finding themselves at risk of losing their homes, Shelter’s work has never been more critical.

About Shelter’s Impact

The charity supports over a million people each year through their free emergency helpline, webchat services, and legal advocacy. They fight for social housing, challenge unfair evictions, and campaign for policy changes that address the root causes of homelessness. The funds raised by our team will directly contribute to these vital services, ensuring that when someone faces a housing crisis, expert help is just a phone call away.

A huge thank you to Paul and Lee for their dedication, and to everyone who sponsored them. Your generosity will help Shelter continue their crucial work supporting people when they need it most. You can still donate to Paul here & Lee here.
